Naoufal: the gift

What the name Naoufal means, and Naoufal's definition of love. Two different sources that say the same thing.

All is love.

Naoufal

The name

Nawfal (نوفل) is an Arabic name. It is commonly given as “very generous” and “the gift”. Name dictionaries also give “the sea”, “abundance” and “handsome young man”. Naoufal, Naoufel and Nawfal are spellings of the same name.

The definition of love

Naoufal’s definition of love comes from the work of David R. Hawkins, the author of Power vs. Force, a book he says shaped his view of the world:

Wanting the good for the other without yourself in the equation.

No bargain, no invoice, no “I give so that you give back”. Just wanting the good for the other.

Why they belong together

A name meaning “the gift” and a love that gives with no condition say the same thing. Naoufal describes himself plainly in his notes: “Naoufal wants the best for everyone.” He also calls himself an “overgiver”, which is the other side of the same gift: giving so much that the giver disappears.

The definition holds the answer. “Without yourself in the equation” does not mean without yourself. It means without your conditions. The giver is still there.

One thing to try

Think of someone you love. For one minute, wish them good with nothing attached: no lesson for them to learn, no change you want, no thanks. Notice how it feels.

Notes

This and that

No one is one thing. Naoufal's core idea, in his own words, and why "we are all one" and "all are separate" can both be true.
