Follow your excitement
The best advice Naoufal can give, in one line. What it means, where it comes from, and how to use it on an ordinary day.
Follow your excitement is the best advice I can give it’s your personnal compris + trust the process
Naoufal
“Compris” here means compass. Excitement is the needle.
What it means
Most advice tells you what to do. This advice tells you how to choose. In any moment, among the options you really have, take the one that excites you most. Not the one that should excite you, or the one that will impress people: the one that pulls.
Then the second half: trust the process. The excitement shows the next step, not the whole road. Naoufal writes that “life is happening for us”, so a step that does not work out is still part of the path.
Where it comes from
The phrase is Bashar’s, through Darryl Anka: act on your highest excitement, to the best of your ability, with no insistence on the outcome. Naoufal adds his own frame: excitement is a personal compass, and no one else can read it for you.
What changes in a normal day
- Small choices count. Which task first, which road home, which call to return.
- When nothing excites, rest is the exciting option.
- When two options pull equally, either is fine.
The other view
Excitement can be confused with craving or escape. Naoufal’s notes also warn that “there is no running from our true self”. Real excitement feels like a yes, not like running away.
One thing to try
Tomorrow, before each choice, ask one question: which of these excites me most right now? Do that one.
